St Antoine Hôpital de Jérémie

St Antoine Hôpital de Jérémie

Program Managed by Serge Bontemps MD

Hôpital Saint-Antoine deserving the city of Jeremie is a healthcare center located in the Bordes locality on top of the hill known as Morne l’Hôpital. From there, one has a panoramic view of the city, can see the nearby Cemetery and the Cathedrale Saint-Louis in the background; The seaside can be admired also.

Hôpital Saint-Antoine (HSA) is very important Healthcare center as it provides services to the entire
city and its surrounding population. The Dame-Marie and Anse d Hainault hospitals routinely refer
their patients there for surgical procedures. The inpatient services provided in the Hospital are
obstetrical delivery, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Neonatal services. Outpatient services include TB and HIV patients’ management. These clinical services are supported by the Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy ancillary services.

The Hospital services are housed in three buildings. The older one lodge the administrative services and the Department of Medicine male and female patients’ wards. The second building relatively recent, is the site of the Emergency Room, the Operating Room, and the Pediatrics Service. The third complex is reserved to the Obstetrics and Gynecology services.

As in the cases of other hospitals in the Country, Hôpital Saint-Antoine has a serious lack of equipment and a scarcity of supplies for optimal delivery of services. The recent donation collected by and received from the AMHE Foundation was used to acquire additional supplies and to cover part of the cost of repairing the water supply. Some of the items that patients had to buy were then provided by the institution.

We thank the AMHE Foundation for its continuous help to Saint Antoine. A great thank you goes to
Dr. Louis Auguste who had done a lot for the Hospital, and of course, we cannot thank enough Dr
Serge Bontemps a native of Jeremie who keeps the Saint Antoine Program alive within the Foundation.
