Our Mission Statement
AMHE Foundation is a charitable corporation organized by members of the Haitian Medical Association Abroad, itself a not-for-profit professional organization, to be the vehicle for their philanthropic activities.
The mission of the AMHE Foundation is rooted in the founding members belief, that every human being, regardless of gender, color, wealth, or religious affiliation, deserves to have a life unencumbered by any hindrance, to enjoy that life to its full potential, and to have access to best health practice and to good medical care when besieged by diseases or conditions that threatened life itself or make it a burden. Second, it is also these founders’ belief that Haitian physicians being at the pinnacle of health-related sciences in their communities, should be front line workers in delivering good healthcare and appropriate medical education in these communities.
And finally, that Haitian physicians being part of the community, should unselfishly within the legal infrastructure offered by statute, organize themselves to engineer a transfer of resources from the more financially endowed in our society, to the more vulnerable and less capable segment of that society.
Therefore, the foundation is created to help all poor and disenfranchised human beings to have access to good health care, and appropriate medical education. To the segment of Haitians living in Haiti, the foundation pledges through its emergency fund, to help them repeal the disruptions caused by natural and manmade disasters that, so repeatedly have plagued their Homeland and deprived them of a worry-free life. So, the Foundation’s main objectives and purposes enshrined in its corporate charter are
1. To be a charitable and educational entity within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, including, but not limited to, medical education, research, and the betterment of public health; And
2. To do all which is necessary or essential for the attainment of the stated purposes for the benefit of the poor, the distressed and the underprivileged by
a. Providing and dispensing medical care and health services to the less fortunate.
b. Establishing and supporting medical facilities and their related services.
c. Operating and managing inpatient and outpatient healthcare delivery facilities.
d. Fostering the dissemination of culturally sensitive health information.
The foundation plans to carry out its mission, objectives, and purposes, by raising funds and collecting resources in view of redistributing them to support and promote the philanthropic activities mentioned above
